Just like you know you’re having a bad day when you get that “I did it” from your boss, you know you’re having a bad day when you get that “I did it” from your boss. We’ve all done it, and it just makes the day more miserable when we’ve done it.
The reality is that we all do this and we all get this. As much as we think it’s just the world getting worse and we have to stand there and tell everyone else what to do, we are actually doing it. We all do it. Each of us has this constant feeling that we failed in some way.

The book is called St Genevieve Jail, by Jane Smiley. It’s a short, fun, and very well-done memoir of Smiley’s childhood and growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, from her mother to her father to her friend. I couldn’t agree more.
There are some awesome things about St Genevieve Jail: It is funny, sad, sad, sad, and very, very depressing. She talks about her mother, her sister, and her best friend, and it is funny and sad and very very sad. I am in awe of how well it is written.
I have to say, I am in awe of this book. I loved reading it, and it is also a wonderful read. Smiley describes a life not unlike mine, which is to say: not so perfect. She talks about her mom, her sister, and her best friend, and they are all really, really, really sad. I was really, really sad to read about my mom. I was sad to read about my sister.
